For those of you who saw PCC 16, you may have seen me as T-bone (illest MC on the microphone) battling Arthur as Ant. I wrote the verses for that staged battle, both mine and his.
The rhymes I wrote and the battle style were inspired by this video. We had to pass the mic so we couldn’t keep the rhythm up the same way, but I think if you bust out the PCC16 DVD, you’ll notice some similarities. I even used the same breakbeat.
It was this video that a) solidifed my love for Run DMC, and b) introduced me to the awesomeness that is Kool Moe Dee. If you ask your average hip-hop/rap fan today, no one would know who he is, really. But the dude was active and on top of his game from like, 1978 to 1992ish. That’s a long time. I think he’s the first emcee to win an NAACP Image Award.
Maybe I’ll do oldschool/golden-age hip-hop group bios/summaries soon. That’ll fill this page with content! Keep an eye out.
